Scare Tactics
I’ve made it fairly clear that I’m mostly ambivalent to the outcome of the election. I’m still a Liberal and want to see the party do well. And I think a Martin government would be better than a Harper government. But Martin pisses the hell out of me, has made a mess of things, and […]

Debate Night
Right off the bat, I’ll say that Steve Paiken was the winner of this debate. He asked hard and pointed questions, resulting in an entertaining debate. As for the debators themselves…meh. Martin showed passion again but rambled off script a few times. The notwithstanding clause thing was just…odd. It’s obviously an attempt to change the […]

The Most Important Debate Ever
Paul Martin has a habit of using hyperbole but I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the back-to-back debates coming up will be among the most important since 1988. And it’s certainly not a stretch to say that Paul Martin’s political future rests in his performance tonight. A lot of Canadians will be […]

Bill Lee Returns
If you need more proof that the people running this Liberal campaign should never be allowed anywhere near a national campaign ever again, look no further than this quote in today’s Hill Times: “You’ll see some action this week, we have no option. Before people go insane over the Normand Lester book, due to cause a stir tomorrow, consider the source. I’ll admit that I’m not familiar with Mr. Lester, but Paul Wells and Fuddle Duddle show, he’s clearly not the most credible source. I don’t for a second think Harper and Layton will lay off since it’s […]

I Welcome These Poll Numbers
CTV news is reporting that the latest Strategic Counsel poll numbers have the Tories in front 37-29, their largest lead yet. But, as a true Liberal, I am not deterred. In fact, I welcome this adversity. I believe we are merely in the final leg of a Liberal majority.

Week 6 in Review
Weekly Winner: John Reynolds. He replaced Tom Flanagan as campaign chair and has received accolades far and wide for the campaign his team has run this time. Just read Saturday’s gushing profile of the Harper campaign in the Globe & Mail to see how they’ve run this campaign. Weekly Loser: Pierre Pettigrew. As he marches […]

The Liberal Empire Strikes Back
The newest Liberal ads are out and we’re seeing hints of the negative campaign to come. Two of the three are certainly negative, although they’re not overly nasty and I expect them to get a lot worse if the poll numbers keep slipping for Paul. Here’s my view of the trio of new Liberal ads […]

Polls and Pundits
Andrew Coyne, determined to break the Michael Jordan comeback record, has been blogging for the past few weeks and even has his comments section back on. Good thing, because Darrell Bricker from Ipsos Reid serves up this gem: AC: I’ve become a regular reader of your blog this election. Your commentary is great, plus you […]
